ACTIVITIES

1- Conferences and Seminars

The AFOPDA since its inception, has carried out steady activities in the research the recommendation of better production factors and improved conditions for oil palm, coconut and karity.

For the main part of its activities, we can mention outside its statutory meetings : seminars, on syposium, scientific conferences, consultative metings, reflexion days, etc.

2- Development and research projects

a- Realized Projects

Certains activities have been realized, either in the framework of the association's own plan of action, either at the levels of its relations of cooperation with the other institutions : it concerns for example : the elaboration of a plan meterial exchange convention project between member countries, the excution of the project on small scale extraction of coconut oil, the elaboration of a document of reference on the state oil palm in Africa, the execution of the project on oil palm intercropping and subsistance crops.

b- Projects in progress

The AFOPDA has a fishpond projets of which the implementation will contribute to the development of oilseed sectors. Some of them are : Mutilocation trials, maintenance of sol fertility, Struggle against drought, the study of small scale processing units, the Struggle against crytogamic disease, research of appropriate technologies of Karite Butter extraction, etc.

3- The future prospects and stakes

- Possible transformation of AFOPDA into an organization of countries and operators of oilseed sector;

- Effective expansion of the AFOPDA activities to cocnut, karite and other perennial oilseeds;

- Establishment of relations of cooperation in the matter of research with PORIM (Malaysa) and COMRED/WCA (Homologue of CMA/WCA in the area of research);

- Elaboration of projects, search for their financing and coordination of the execution of said projects; ...
